About the Roofing Calculator
This roofing calculator estimates the materials and cost for a roof construction or repair project. Enter your roof dimensions and shingle price, and you receive the roof area, number of squares, shingle bundles, and estimated total cost.
The tool follows the standard roofing method: it multiplies the footprint area by a pitch factor to find the true roof surface, then divides that area by 100 to get squares. It also converts squares into bundles based on shingle coverage. The inputs are roof length, width, pitch, coverage per bundle, and price per square or bundle. Buy 10 to 15 percent extra material to cover cuts, starter courses, and waste on complex roof shapes.
