About the Mass Calculator

This calculator converts between mass, weight, and gravitational force for physics problems. Enter one known value and it returns the related quantities, reported in kilograms, newtons, or meters per second squared.

The tool uses the standard weight formula W = m x g, together with Newton's law of universal gravitation F = G x m1 x m2 / r^2 when two masses and a distance apply. You enter mass in kilograms, weight in newtons, gravitational acceleration in m/s^2, or the distance between two masses. Keep your units consistent so the outputs stay in kilograms and newtons. To model another planet, replace the default 9.81 m/s^2 with that body's gravity, such as 1.62 for the Moon.

  • Enter a known value, such as mass in kilograms or weight in newtons.
  • Set the gravitational acceleration, or keep the default of 9.81 m/s^2 for Earth.
  • Read the results panel for the converted mass, weight, and force values.
