About the Molarity Calculator
The Molarity Calculator computes solution concentration from the mass of solute and the volume of solution. You get molarity in mol/L, the number of moles of solute, and molality in mol/kg when you enter the solvent mass.
It applies the standard definition M = n / V, where n is the moles of solute and V is the solution volume in liters. Moles come from dividing the solute mass by its molar mass. Required inputs are mass in grams, molar mass in g/mol, and volume in liters. Convert milliliters to liters before you enter the volume, since a factor of 1000 changes the result.
- Enter the mass of your solute in grams.
- Enter the molar mass in g/mol based on the chemical formula.
- Enter the solution volume in liters and read the molarity result.
